hey all,
i got the funniest texts from momma j yesterday! she was watching the documentary with chi and sending me pictures of his reaction to what he saw and the voices he heard. here is how it went went…
Text from Jeanne: Gina - I put on the documentary and Dai went from sleepy to "I know that voice" when he heard you talk!" Wide open eyes!
Then hears Mom's voice on the documentary...
Hears Sonny on documentary...
Hears Mae on documentary (miss you Mae!)
Hears Mom "again?"
at this point i am LMAO and she texts: “No kidding! More coming! 
”
Hears Pak's voice (come on bro - break me outta here - Diaz has a UFC fight "209!"
Ugh! It's "her" again... (get on with the rest of my family!)
Hears John K. - his BFF since college.
then she says “So that sums up the story.. except look what I went through in OCTOBER to get to him (pic below)…

i talked to chi for awhile after momma j sent me all these pictures. i always am sure to let him know how much you all love and support him!

I’m 30 and im from indiana (boring here)i listen to your music, and your poetry, and i think about you recovering and pray for that to happen every day that im still on this eart.I watched Chino the other night on B-Real TV; he was glad to be back home hesaid, hes been working really hard as far as i can see, and there appears to be no let up in his drive, its still burning, like the energy that is in your soul. it helps me in my everyday life, its more than music. but thats kind of cliche, but what isnt you know? haha! lol well, good to see you, bro, good to see you.

I honestly cannot believe its been three years bud. You’ve got to be one of the strongest people I know or ever heard of. Dear Chi, i first off want to thank you for inspiration in life threw the amazing music you have created over the years, I live in rapid city south dakota and made the 6 hour trip to denver to see deftones at odgens theater this march 2011 for my support and love for the greatest band. Family/ friends and myself pray everyday for your progress and we will continue to rock out to keep our support up \m/(>_<)\m/ !

I’m sure you hear it all the time; everyone telling you how strong your family is for being there and going through everything that you do to help Chi. Although to your family it probably doesn’t seem like an option to do anything else. No matter how hard it is for you and your family I’m sure you look at Chi and know he’s fighting just as much if not harder just to get back to all of you in the way he used to be. I don’t want to offend you or anyone with this and I can’t even imagine just how you all feel; but I have a slight idea. When I was 19yrs old I had to watch my sister in a coma for only 5 days she had just turned 16. She was taken off of life support just 10 days after her 16th birthday and 1 day before my brother’s birthday and she did not make it she was gone. Deftones was my salvation through that time if it wasn’t for their music and Chi for being my hero on bass and giving me the drive to try to learn the bass myself. I don’t think I would’ve gotten through that point in my life. That being said I found out I’m not musically talented lol. Since then I have become a Massage Therapist and I work on musicians when they come to my town free of charge because I know they need it. I am also a certified nurse’s aide and I’m going to school full time to become a registered nurse. I see people in similar situations as yours doing everything they can to take care of and fight for someone they love and I’m honored that I get to be a part of that fight for most of them. I do anything and everything I can to support and take care of my patients and their families. I know all of you have a long way to go and it’s not an easy road but I think Chi is on the right path. I wish I was there to donate my time and services to Chi and your family. I wish there was some way I could give back to Chi for all he and the deftones have given me. Deftones have been a part of me gosh since I was in middle school and I’m 30 now lol so ya they will always be a part of me. You have an amazing and beautiful family and my heart and prayers are with you always… Thank you…xo

there was a Canadian study done a little while ago about the brain activity of patients in a coma and ones who were fully paralyzed that showed that they *want* to communicate. their brain reacts and lights up to familiar voices and pictures and so forth; when they were asked questions, the patients *responded* just not in a visible way, their brain did.
going through these photos just brought that thought to my mind. his mind is working, you can see it in his eyes. chi is in there….he’ll find his way back. his body may not be co-operating but by sheer determination of his own spirit and the positive energy around to guide him, in time it will.

Everyday here in Mexico we live with fear, sadness and poverty. Now i decide enter to this web site and i see you again man. I remember the first time that i see you in a video “Bored”. That jumper guy who give more than power in a new band. Months ago i see Strife here in Mexico and i ask to Rick about you. Now, im an 37 guy who everyday feel more terrenal, more sensitive, and when i read about you only i send to every terrenal thing that we love like the sea, the air, the flowers all my good feelings to your soon recovery.
