hey all… this is from momma j (chi's mom)…

Just texted Gina..”still crying and praying.” She texted back..”Me too.” What a beautiful couple. What a tragic loss! Mae came in this morning while I was on the phone with Gina. We hung up and Mae n I just hugged and started crying. Mae said after a few minutes, “Isn’t it strange how you can feel someones pain even when they are so far away.” All I can think of is Why?? Why did Chi not buckle up? Why did Ben not buckle up? Why did I not do a blog a few weeks ago when Smokey lost a nephew because he did not buckle up?? Please pray for this family in pain and THINK!! Do it for Chi-do it for Ben-do it for yourselves and for your loved ones! BUCKLE UP!!! –

also i would like to add… to the kids that are using this "power duster" crap to get high.. or anything else for that matter… everyone.. please NEVER drive under the influence!!!

UPDATE FROM BEN'S MOM:

I need to speak on behalf of Ben for a moment. According to the police report, Ben was indeed wearing his seatbelt during the accident, as were all 6 people involved in the accident. Ben was adamant about buckling up and would want this misunderstanding clarified. For some unknown reason, there were not the typical seatbelt marks on Ben's upper body following the accident. I'm wondering if the deployment of the airbags simultaneously with the car folding in on Ben made the action of the seatbelts irrelevant. Ben's body went back towards the seat rather than forward towards the windshield.
