“Has he ever reached for an object?”
hey all,
so wow… tonight was a great nite!!! not that what i did tonight has anything to do with chi’s recovery… but i have to tell the whole story. i have 3 kids and i don’t “get out” often but my mom happened to take my kids for a few days and i had the chance to hang out with one of my oldest and dearest friends tonight. during the nite i told her something that ming and momma j tell me all the time and that is “you can sleep when you are dead!” and i said but nothing can replace these great moments filled with laughter and enjoying eachother’s company. so for me the whole night i felt a huge amount of gratitude. for life. for love. for family. for friends. anyway.. so i go home and i went outside and stood there looking at the sky and i said something along the lines of “God, Buddha, Jehovah, universe.. whatever is out there i ask for a miracle to happen tonight for my friend chi ling cheng. please bless him and give him progress tonight. THANK YOU!!!” no more than 10 or 15 minutes go by and i get a text from momma j “are you up?” and i answer “yep” and she calls me. she is giddy as a school girl! she tells me she witnessed something she has been waiting a year to see. i ask anxiously “what???” chi reached for his bed rail and grasped it and seemed to be trying to pull himself up (notice in the picture!). i know it may seem to some people that it doesn’t sound like much of a milestone but it is HUGE! just that he made the attempt to grab something and succeeded is amazing. i don’t know if you realize how much it takes of the brain function to make this happen. i know i didn’t until i researched it. it would be a great step forward even if he just reached for something and not actually even grasped the object. one of the questions momma j has been asked by doctors is “has he reached for an object?” and until now the answer has been no.
momma j asks that anyone who reads this and feels joy or relief please look up and give thanks and gratitude to the God that makes all things possible. all good things come from above. He has a plan and it is a plan for good.

UPDATE: it’s been 3 hours now and i just talked to momma j again and chi is still holding on to that bed rail.. he won’t let go. HOLD ON BROTHER!

I wanted to share that while i read this update I got filled with an immense feeling that its going to be ok. That GOD is there always!!! Chi is going to get through this and he knows it. That is totally a sign for everyone to see that by him grabbing on to his rail that he is showing EVERYONE that he is fighting it, for himself and his family, his friends…which is the same thing… good friends are family too

that is so amazing!! it may not seem like much but you’re right, that is a HUGE deal. the fact that he not only grasped for something but grabbed it seems like a sign to me that he either is or is becoming much more aware of his surroundings. that is a huge leap in his progress and i’m praying that it will only continue to get better. we love you, chi!

I want you to know that i can’t wait for the new album when he gets out and id like to say that the deftones went through loads of line up changes before they found chi and as i have not personally met him i will say that his music has got me through boredom and hard times and i know he must have somthing special and must be somthing that is amazing for his music is more powerful than any 1 mans voice. every time i listen to your music i think of you and i will go on this website to see how your getting on. you are an inspirastion to everyone chi your music has touched us all deeply.
