Hangin’ With Chi…
hey all…
chi looks great! he is looking more and more like himself. he looks like he has gained a little weight.. face looks more filled out then last time i saw him. chi is definately showing signs of being more aware and focused. he has started lifting his legs and kicking them off the side of his chair… almost like he is trying to go somewhere!
i got in late last nite so we didn't do much since he was tired.. and well… so was i. i put some jeff buckley on and slept in the other bed next to him… every once in awhile i would wake to him making yawning noises.. even hearing his voice in that way just sounds good. so.. after our slumber party the next morning stephanie came over to get him up.. we got him cleaned up, dressed and in his chair and then took him for a walk outside.
then we came over to her place (stephanie lives in the same apt. complex – she is SO amazing with him.. i don't know what we would do without her!) and have just been hanging out here all day. recently we (the one love fam) purchased a amazon kindle for chi… it does text to speech so we
can order books for him and it reads the words to him. i got it all set up for him today and ordered a book.. once it started playing his eyes opened up HUGE and he just started soaking it all up. you can tell he is really listening to the book being read. at one point momma j was calling me on my phone so i paused the book.. chi looked at me like “hey what happened to my book??!” …i am not one to piss off our boy so i quickly got off the phone so he could resume listening. he is still listening to it now hours later. so ya.. chi says thanks one love family for the kindle!
tomorrow dr. defina and his crew will be arriving. i will let you all know how that goes… i may pop back in tonight and do another update… but for sure tomorrow.
i'm really proud of chi.. he is so strong. i have mad respect for this man. his tenacity is inspiring!
one love for chi,
gina

This is so great, Gina! So happy for Chi to have you there and for you to get to see him again! Bet it was great to see mom J and Mae again as well as Stephanie.. Hope you will have a wonderful time there, and so proud of Chi for fighting and gradually waking up. I One love for you all – Always. All the best.
Hey Gina, don't you dare piss off our boy!!!! ha ha
Thanks so much for this great news.
One Love sweetie x
Dear Gina,
Thanks for the quick update. I am so excited that Dr. Defina is coming tomorrow, I guess I did not know that. And the book idea, AWESOME! Tell him that I listen to audio books all the time on my mp3 player. I absolutely love it, and I know he will too.
Hugs and Love,
Auntie Ann
This is so great to hear. When my hubby was in a semi coma we would place his MP3 player near him and he instantly calmed down and loved it. It helped him wake up.
Love to all,
Sandy
(Danny Hill's sis)
that’s great sandy! how long was he in a coma?
one love for chi,
gina
I can't help but smile picturing Chi listening to the book being read to him. Thanks for the update Gina and for your dedication to our boy Chi. Lets all pray for Dr. Defina to work his wonderful magic on Chi and for Chi to make steady progress day by day.
One love for Chi.

great news..we love you chi…you re not alone….we re all waiting for you ..soon you ll be here with us .God bless
I'm not much for tracking and commenting on individual donations, but I can't resist giving huge props to Richard Flores for donating 1000 dollars to the cause – Richard, you are awesome.
Also looking forward to the news from Dr. DeFina on our boy today – I can't stop thinking of when Dr. Nguyen went to see Chi a few weeks ago, and as Mae put it: “Took one look at Dai and was floored!” I don't know how long it's been since Dr. DeFina last saw Chi, but I think he will be so glad to see the improvement that he's making. So yeah, anticipating the latest news from the doctor with great joy today. ^^
And yeah, having a Kindle reading the books is really practical – compare to books-on-tape/-CD, where one has to stand-by and switch sides/discs after a while. (only got one such CD at home, a sample of one of the late Stieg “Dragon Tattoo” Larsson's books) Haven't really paid attention to the Kindle, but now I can see what it can do for people who love books.
Love and only love,
- Anthony
GINA,
THANK YOU FOR ALLOW US TO LIVE VICARIOUSLY THROUGH YOU IN TAKING CARE OF OUR BROTHER, CHI! PROGRESS SOUNDS PROMISING, I'LL WAIT FOR THE DAY THAT HE'S BANGING ON THAT BASS AGAIN.
KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK,
GINO I.

it is very inspiring, the power of words on a gentle spirit like Chi.
i am going out on tour shortly, with Gaga, and I wish it was Deftones again,
complete with Chi. will send some money to help buy more Kindle stories.
much love and thank you Gina.

Reading this was so great, i really didnt know that he already was talking and reacting the way he did. Im so happy our prays help him.
Gina, it was only for a couple of weeks so I cannot even begin to compare with what your all going through. Jim's case was brought on by kidney failure and sepsis, they didn't think he'd make it. But it was the music, talking to him and never giving up that helped him push through whatever was holding him back. I know this too will happen with Chi.
Jim experienced several revelations while in his coma that even the doctors cannot explain. He recited bible verses that he did not know before becoming sick; he never read the bible. The number 3 was also very important to him during this time. It wasn't until he woke up that he told us he had went to hell, then purgatory and finally ended in Heaven. His testimony puts chills on a soul. He was a changed man after that and never the same, but in a great way. His visions of Heaven were amazing.
Anyway, I know God is working through Chi and making obvious impressions on so many with his progress. God works through us all in ways we don't always understand. I am in awe that he spoke for his mom. God bless him and amen.
Thanks for allowing all of us into Chi's life.
Much love,
Sandy
