Hey Everyone!!
Please join us at the Toad Tavern, Friday July 16th in Littleton for a Benefit for Chi Cheng of the Deftones. Chi was in a serious car accident in November 2008 resulting in a coma. He did not regain consciousness for months. Now Chi has diminished capacities, is unable to perform music or work, and will require on-going medical care; until his full recovery.
Chi has been left with astronomical medical bills. The money raised by this benefit will be put into a trust fund set up by his mother, called ‘The Chi Cheng Special Needs Trust’. 100% of all donations will go directly to the Trust.
Please come out and support the local Denver music scene with a $10 dollar donation at the door to see the All Capitals, Made Fresh Daily, My orange crush, Chris Laplante of P-Nuckle, and S.T.O.I.C. There will be a silent auction throughout the night.
With your help we can all come together to make a difference for someone who has given us so much through his music.

It was a very special show for only 800 fans, and was only announced two weeks beforehand. The tickets sold in less than 24 hours. The set list was signed to help raise funds for Chi, so it's a very special one indeed, including the uniqueness of the show.

hey all… well… i just got back from ben's funeral. what an emotional morning. the olsem family is awesome. great people! even tho i didn't know ben personally.. just hearing all the stories about him that his friends and family told and the pictures and video clips i saw of ben… i wish i had known him personally.
i wore my one love for chi shirt.. the one with chi's face/tat hands on it… i told his mom and brother morgan that if chi could be here i am sure he would be.. so i brought chi with me on my shirt! his mom thanked me for "supporting her boys" and i told her that the chengs and all of us here send our love and support. it was much appreciated. hey all, so much going on lately *head spin*

Just texted Gina..”still crying and praying.” She texted back..”Me too.” What a beautiful couple. What a tragic loss! Mae came in this morning while I was on the phone with Gina. We hung up and Mae n I just hugged and started crying. Mae said after a few minutes, “Isn’t it strange how you can feel someones pain even when they are so far away.” All I can think of is Why?? Why did Chi not buckle up? Why did Ben not buckle up? Why did I not do a blog a few weeks ago when Smokey lost a nephew because he did not buckle up?? Please pray for this family in pain and THINK!! Do it for Chi-do it for Ben-do it for yourselves and for your loved ones! BUCKLE UP!!! –

UPDATE FROM BEN'S MOM:
I need to speak on behalf of Ben for a moment. According to the police report, Ben was indeed wearing his seatbelt during the accident, as were all 6 people involved in the accident. Ben was adamant about buckling up and would want this misunderstanding clarified. For some unknown reason, there were not the typical seatbelt marks on Ben's upper body following the accident. I'm wondering if the deployment of the airbags simultaneously with the car folding in on Ben made the action of the seatbelts irrelevant. Ben's body went back towards the seat rather than forward towards the windshield.
