hey all, so much going on lately *head spin*

Just texted Gina..”still crying and praying.” She texted back..”Me too.” What a beautiful couple. What a tragic loss! Mae came in this morning while I was on the phone with Gina. We hung up and Mae n I just hugged and started crying. Mae said after a few minutes, “Isn’t it strange how you can feel someones pain even when they are so far away.” All I can think of is Why?? Why did Chi not buckle up? Why did Ben not buckle up? Why did I not do a blog a few weeks ago when Smokey lost a nephew because he did not buckle up?? Please pray for this family in pain and THINK!! Do it for Chi-do it for Ben-do it for yourselves and for your loved ones! BUCKLE UP!!! –

UPDATE FROM BEN'S MOM:
I need to speak on behalf of Ben for a moment. According to the police report, Ben was indeed wearing his seatbelt during the accident, as were all 6 people involved in the accident. Ben was adamant about buckling up and would want this misunderstanding clarified. For some unknown reason, there were not the typical seatbelt marks on Ben's upper body following the accident. I'm wondering if the deployment of the airbags simultaneously with the car folding in on Ben made the action of the seatbelts irrelevant. Ben's body went back towards the seat rather than forward towards the windshield.

not long after i got the news from morgan that ben had a stroke and had passed on… he sent me two pictures… ben had 3 tattoos and two of them were deftones inspired… RIP ben our one love brother… :’(

hey all…
i just wanted to reach out and request our one love family pray for a fellow deftones fan and chi supporter named ben olsem. i got an email from his brother morgan… here it is:
Hello, my name is Morgan Olsem and I have one of the biggest Deftones supporters in my brother, Ben Olsem. On April 30th,2010, he was hit head on by another driver on the way to the Deftones show in Mission, Texas. He’s been comatose in a San Antonio ICU since that Friday. I can’t even begin to list his life-threatening problems. Apparently the other driver at fault was a 17 year old high on power duster. I am writing you to let you know that Chi was always in my brother’s prayers since his ’08 accident. Now I pray for Chi as well as my brother for any kind of recovery possible. Even though the best case for my little brother will be a type of vegetative state, i will always play Deftones at his bedside in hopes that he’ll feel like he made the concert. He would like that. I hope the best for Chi and family, take care.
let’s do what we can to send out healing, positive thoughts, prayer and love to ben and his family…

hey all…
just another quick update to let you know i talked to chi again twice yesterday.. during our second call he was being SUPER vocal. stephanie and i kept encouraging him to get some simple words out… he made lots of vowel sounds.. and “uh” sounds…
then i asked him if he could say “hi” to me… then i could hear him working himself up to make a sound… and he got the “H” sound out. it was obvious he was comprehending my requests (which is huge!) and was making efforts to say “hi”!
it takes an incredible amount of his energy to do this… it was the most vocal i have heard him be in awhile.
stephanie and i continued to cheer him on and encourage him to keep practicing using those vocal chords… and he kept on making sounds. it was awesoome!

just a quick message to let everyone know i just called and talked to chi… phone held up to his ear for him…wide awake… as he listens to be blab away…

he’s having a good day today. hanging in there and fighting hard. it seems like the new protocol is helping… i keep telling him to take those baby steps and try to be patient. i know it’s gotta be hard… frustrating…
pray hard for our boy… light a candle and send out some good prayers, energy and healing to chi.
