Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Chi
with all of our combined efforts after i launched www.oneloveforchi.com – and everyone that has come together (and STILL coming)… we have raised over $25K which is enough for us to begin hyperbaric oxygen therapy for chi. i researched A LOT not long after chi’s accident and found that this type of treatment has been VERY successful in helping coma patients recover.. the only problem was/is that insurance companies do not cover it… and it isn’t cheap.. and well.. chi’s insurance had already bailed on him. this was a HUGE motivation for me to launch the fundraising efforts.. and i could not have done this without all of you great fans that have helped me along the way.
so then i searched for portable hyperbaric oxygen chambers because our dear chi isn’t able to be taken into an office for treatment without huge efforts and treatments need to happen twice a day for 2 hours each.. while i was looking i happened to find one on ebay that included assistance of a doctor who is certified in this type of treatment and would assist for a year if we bought it thru him… now here is the universe in action.. turns out he is 4 miles from where chi is.. tell me that wasn’t meant to be? so i call him up.. hook him up with chi’s mom… now known to me as momma j.. and he went to meet chi.. momma j has already picked out the chamber with his assistance and it is in the process of being ordered. it should arrive within days. the funds we all raised together will pay for the rental and/or purchase of the chamber and his treatment. so i can’t say thank you enough.
so.. ya.. we have done a lot for our dear chi. and he is now on a road to a faster recovery. for those who are inclined enough to learn more about the success other people in chi’s condition have had with this type of treatment just google “hyperbaric oxygen therapy coma”.
everyone has been so awesome and i just want to take the time to thank all of you who have been helping me. we are making such a huge difference in someone’s life who has done so much for all of us for many years now via music.
i added a new page to the site about all the stories i get about chi’s random acts of kindness.. you should check it out: http://oneloveforchi.com/index.php/category/chi-stories-from-fans/ and if you have any to add plz let me know.
much love to you all great people.
one love for chi,

This still gives me chills! Amazing! Much Love!!! =o)
Just finished watching vids about hyperbaric oxegen therapy. I am so hopeful and pray for Chi’s recovery every day. Gina, you are his angel and obviously everything happens to teach us and allow us to learn. I am thrilled that this is part of your story and that Chi has so many people who love him & support him. I love the Deftones, but to read what a wonderful person Chi is really lifts me up. I know Chi will fully recover. Every part of my being tells me that. Thank you for being there for his incredible family and for setting an example of what we should all aspire to be.
One love always.
Your sister in peace,
RC
hey rc
thanks so much. i appreciate it. i learn from chi too…. how we should definitely all be. it doesn’t take much more effort to live with more regard to other living beings…. to live with more compassion.
for example.. i wish you could have heard ming and i yesterday.. he had some stray dogs that ended up at his house.. but he could not keep them because he and his beautiful maria have cats… so he calls me with the dilemma of “what do i do?? do i take them to a nice neighborhood and drop them hoping someone will give them a good home or should i take them to the shelter where they run the risk of death??!” i ask him if he inquired about no kill facilities and he’s off to find out.. i immediately start helping him look online.. this seriously had us on a hunt for awhile. come to find out… where he lives they don’t have no kill shelters.. they have one.. but only for cats.. so unless we could figure a way to disguise these mutts as cats… they had to go to the regular shelter. so long story short ming took them to the shelter and the people that worked there told him they would not euthanize unless they were sick or mean. still – ming insists on checking on their status every week.. and i am sure i will be asking him every week “hey brother any news on those 2 mutts??”…
anyway.. this whole thing took some time out of our day.. but because we took the time to care. alot of people would have just called the pound and called it a day. it may take a little more time.. but it sure does feel good to.. care.
i’ve rambled.. sorry.. but anyway.. thanks so much. many many blessings to you!
one love for chi,
gina
Sad thing with the insurance thing, more than embarasing… If it happened in Canada, China, France, Cuba, Denmark, Sweden or even Lybia, the health insurance would carry out the healing process till the end… Don’t know what to say..Such an artist, without funds for treatement, abandoned by the HMO… It’s very sad, hope Chi gets well soon, and to see the original Deftones lineup outside the Land of the creed, home of the slaves…
Great news Gina!
I knew that Chi was about to get well very soon!
We owe him a lot!
This is happening!
This is so exciting! If anybody deserves this, it’s Chi and we are crossing fingers for this to help Chi come back to us. We miss you, Chi, and music needs you. Sending prayers and lots of healing positive energy to you, to your family and to Gina.

Gina,
I just wanted to tell you a short story of my memory of Chi. Back in 1995 (96 maybe) dtones came to Detroit to play the Shelter, a very small club in the middle of a cold winter. Me and about 30 other people got there early and waited in line outside for over an hour in probably 15 degree weather because the club wouldn’t let us in. About mid-way through the wait, Chi walks out and just starts chatting up everyone in line and I remember how legitimately grateful he was that people were lining up to see the band. Now, I was only 17 or so at the time, but I will remember talking with him and being taken aback by his humility and kindness. Then I saw the best show that i have ever seen.
Good luck Chi and everyone who is taking care of him. Thanks for the kindness and the music that still moves us.
thanks for sharing jeret… it is much appreciated.
hope you have a great day.
one love for chi,
gina
hello Gina, my name is Julio and Iám a fan of Deftones since Adrenaline, Im from Southamerica, I saw them here twice, one in the White Pony tour, and the other time in Saturday Night Wrist tour. I wish i could see them more, but this is the South, ha ha.
Please dont considere this message a Joke; there is some helps In the scientology religion made for people that are in Coma and they can improve the condition of a patient.
There is so much misunderstanding about Scientology in the society but they actually help people.
I wish You and Chi the best, goodbye
Julio
Good luck with the chamber Gina.
We are all waiting for the day when Chi wakes up and we can all be blessed with his music and his performance once again.
Chi is on our minds at all times and his music lives through all his fans.
Much love from the East Coast <3
Gina,
This is the first time I write here, and reading about the Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy for Chi made me so happy!
It’s just amazing…Sometimes, people are so wonderful that are able to create marvelous things, and obviously, Dtones and Chi have done that with their music !
Very talented people that just share what they do, but what a beautiful gift. It is not just music, its a soul’s cure…
All my best wishes for you and Chi, lots of love from
Santiago, Chile.
