One Love For Chi!
hey all…
i just wanted to reach out and request our one love family pray for a fellow deftones fan and chi supporter named ben olsem. i got an email from his brother morgan… here it is:
Hello, my name is Morgan Olsem and I have one of the biggest Deftones supporters in my brother, Ben Olsem. On April 30th,2010, he was hit head on by another driver on the way to the Deftones show in Mission, Texas. He’s been comatose in a San Antonio ICU since that Friday. I can’t even begin to list his life-threatening problems. Apparently the other driver at fault was a 17 year old high on power duster. I am writing you to let you know that Chi was always in my brother’s prayers since his ’08 accident. Now I pray for Chi as well as my brother for any kind of recovery possible. Even though the best case for my little brother will be a type of vegetative state, i will always play Deftones at his bedside in hopes that he’ll feel like he made the concert. He would like that. I hope the best for Chi and family, take care.

I know the feeling of a loved one being taken from me. He was my cousin, my best friend. It was such a huge loss for me and my family. It happened in 07 and we have not been the same since… I hope for the best for your brother and also Chi as well… ONE LOVE

just wanted to extend a huge thank you to the one love family for all of your support and prayers for my brother-in-law Ben. i know for a fact if Ben could be awake to see all the love and even just to know how much closer he has gotten to his favorite band he would cry with excitement.

i sent some info to morgan to give to his mom regarding all the state assistance available for TBI in our great state of texas. this is all info i have from research i did back when there was a possibility chi would come to texas. if ya’ll have any questions just let me know.. i have done a TON of research!

Brother Chi, our prayers are with you. Me and my wife really want you to get well. We never had deftones in Ecuador(my country)so I hope someday that dream come true, and better if that happends with you on stage. I really admire your courage and spirit. So go on brother with your head up high!!!!!!!!!!!

hey morgan, it’s mae. my heart goes out to you, your family, and especially ben. all i can say is, believe in miracles and the power of the human spirit. it can endure and fight thru so much more than i thought possible. i cried when i read your story because it obviously hits so close to home. if you want to get ahold of me, im a XXX@XXX.com (mae – i will give them your email privately – gina) love and respect. tell ben he is very much in my thoughts and prayers.
Morgan, thank you for allowing us to pray for Ben and for your family. We know the heartbreak and shock that you are in now. Let me share the one thread that has run through every story of overcoming the odds that we have seen in the past year and a half since Chi’s accident. The victims that came back all had family that wouldn’t give up on them. They all shared a strong faith in God. They were fighters. Our OneLove family is strongly bonded and full of prayer warriors. Will you please update us and let us know how Ben is? Chi had so many complications and still here he is with us and still recovering. Will you or Ashlee please send Mae and I contact information at her Email address? Gina also has my Email. My husband, Cody, has been best friends with Ben for over 16 years and Ben and I have become close over the last 3 years. We can’t tell you how much we appreciate all the love and well wishes being sent Bens way. Thank you!
