Not too long ago my twin brother was involved in a serious car accident i felt like an organ was pulled out of me it sure took a lot of time but hes pretty good now!. ive donated a small amount which i can help out more but later i will look into a bit more. nice page!
I launched my Conscious Kindness campaign at last years EarthDance. We passed out 100 letters w/instructions. Please visit the website @ http://www.myspace.com/consciouskindness and launch your own campaign in honor of Chi. It’s free & easy. Hoping to spread Conscious Kindness across the planet. There is also a Conscious Kindness Kids Campaign so that we can teach our children well.
One love to all,
RC
I took my wife out for dinner on Mother’s Day 2009 with our daughter. Walking to the restaraunt downtown, a homeless man came up to us asking us for money to buy some food. I looked and didn’t have any cash… It just so happened that a Jimmy John’s franchise was directly across the street from the restaurant that I was taking my wife to, so I took Murphy (the homeless man) across the street and bought him a #5 sub combo with a drink. The guy at Jimmy John’s looked at me kind of strangely, but I explained to him how karma works. Murphy was very grateful, and I’m glad that he got food for his stomach and for his soul on Mother’s day.
Chi, my family and I are routing for you brother!! I hope your recovery is swift and complete. I didn’t even know this website was up until today when I happened to stumble upon it. I’m going to speak with some of the artists that I work with to see if we can put together a fund raiser to assist you. Gina, feel free to contact me via email or MySpace. My thoughts and prayers are with Chi and his family.
Saying “Hello.” to people that walk past you is a lost act… People don’t even look at each other in most areas… so walking past some one, any one, and simply saying “Hello.” or “good morning/ afternoon” makes a huge impact i’ve noticed… they may not say it back, some people are shocked by the kindness, but they’ll remember it the whole day… the more this is worked back into habit, the more smiling there will be
My black lab Keila had 8 beautiful puppies March 22, 2009 and we gave them all to loving homes. Well one home we thought was loving an caring and was one family we weren’t friends with we gave a boy too. We found out that already at 3 months he was being treated badly and and abused and was never fed, it was sickening and I couldn’t stop crying over it. I did everything in my power to save him in a legal way but nothing was ever being done. So I talked to my Aunt and we ended up kidnapping him jsut last week. (yes not the right thing to do but it was what was needed) and we have given him to another loving home to people we know will take great care of him. Though it was not a human life to me any animal is just as important as another human life and I hope to one day open a animal sanctuary where all animals can be cared and loved for no matter what’s wrong with them and even if they are homeless. I’ve already been saving money for a few years now because I know the place will need to be huge and I know that I can’t save all but my goal is to save as many as I can and help them and to find them great home.
Chi & Family I am praying everyday for him to pull through and words cannot explain how sorry I am. I thought this random act of kindness would be nice to post because of how loving Chi is for animals. Though I don’t know Chi personally he is an amazing human being & I have loved Deftones and their music for about 15 years of my life due to my cousin and I will just be turning 21 in January. But you all are in my prayers everyday and wanted to let you know.
I work at a supermarket on the checkouts, and I make sure I always keep spare change in my pocket, because there are obviously people from all walks of life coming through, and I get a lot of customers buying things like milk, bread, eggs who are often several dollars short, they begin to ask me to take something off the order, but I tell them not to worry and I put the spare change in my till.. Several people have had tears in their eyes and have either said nothing and carried on, some are absolutely blown away. I did it for an elderly man the other day, and the lady behind him in the queue told me I was so kind and she couldn’t believe my generosity. I don’t do it for the attention or the recognition, I do it because I know people struggle. I myself struggle to pay bills so I know what they are going through.
Once, a friend of mine at the supermarket had her bank card in her pocket. An elderly man came through buying basics, and his card was declined. He started walking away and said he’ll put everything back, she quickly slipped him her card, told him to swipe it (trying not to let any supervisor see!) told him the account and pin number. The groceries were not more than $30, but he was absolutely blown away and had tears in his eyes, he was so grateful and when she told me I wanted to cry! Such a small gesture is appreciated so much by people, I love it and can’t get enough of random acts of kindness!
While in line at Dollar Tree, I only had two things in my cart; the line was really slow and long, and an older gentleman in front of me had his arms full of kitty litter, food stuffs, and misc items. I asked him if he would like to put his things in my cart, which he happily did….
Karma smiled on me minutes later when we reached the front of the line; the gentleman was so grateful, he gave the checker two extra dollars to pay for my two items. The checker was so blown away, she asked if we knew each other; he replied, “no, but she let me put my things in her cart so I’m just returning the favor; it’s the way things are supposed to be.”
I hugged him and thanked him; it goes to show you, you don’t have to do something big, to make a big difference for somebody.
Couple of weeks ago I was at a bank on business, and I saw a blind person walk in looking for Der Weinerschnitzel. The bank manager escorted the lady out and I assumed she attempted to guide her in the right direction. When I exited the bank, the lady was wandering and trying to find her way and was kind of stuck in an area with no outlet. Even though I was with clients, I excused myself, walked over to the lady and asked if she needed help. She asked me to point her in the right direction. Instead, I offered to walk her to Der Weinerschnitzel, which was on the other side of the shopping center. As I walked her, I explained what areas she was crossing, what directions to move so that the next time, she’d be able to find her way much easier. I didn’t think much about what I was doing, cuz it just had to be done. But what did draw my attention was how people looked at me oddly because I was helping a homeless blind woman. When did we stop doing the things that need to be done?
My family will continue to intention the highest good for you and your family. Many blessings.
Awhile back I did the smallest of kindnesses that came back to me so many times it left me smiling all day.
I pulled up behind a line of cars at a traffic light. Someone coming from the opposite direction wanted to turn left into a driveway that I was blocking. I backed up so he could make his turn, and he gave me the ‘thank you’ wave and a smile. So did the next person, and the next, and the next. (Busy place, huh?) It went on continuously til the light changed.
All those smiles and waves just cheered me immensely! It was such a small kindness I did in backing my car up. It’s the kind of thing most of us do and don’t think about it again. But that stream of ‘thank you’s’ gave me such a boost, I have a new awareness of the power of appreciation.
This website in itself is an act of kindness, not random, but still an act of kindness. Gina, you are a great person for putting this together for chi, im sure you have gotten much thanks, but i just want to say its so awesome that you put this site together, look at what youve acomplished so far, its so great. You gave people the chance to do an act of kindness by donating whatever they can. You cant be thanked enough, bless you.
One love for chi!!!
I always opens the and holds the door for anyone in my vincitnnity, at school, at shaws, hospitals, etc. I also always hold up a line so people can get in in my school cafetaria. I had to stop though because a teacher got mad for some unpolite reason.
All in it’s self, listening to chi’s riffs along with the whole deftones is a huge act of kidness. They all to me have meaning, unlike alot of otheer bands. I think it is the raw emotion in the songs that make them so worth while to own and to listen to.
BTW: This year I am going to try to promote OneLoveForChi at my school’s by singing a song like hole in the earth orBeware.
Many blessings to you, your family, all of those who need someone to care for them, or help them
I play in a rock band full time…we tour pretty much non stop except for this month has been slow and money has been very short. I’ve been trying to direct my life in an anti-materialistic direction and fully enveloping myself in my music and nothing else. I’m the drummer for my band. Well, I had totally ran out of money for the month about 2 weeks ago and rumors had spread through friends that all of us in the band were doing very bad financially. Last week at a show a fan/friend gave me $10 because she had heard how much of a bad month we had been having. I didn’t want to take it, but she wouldn’t let me not take it. It made me realize that there are times when you need to open your arms and warm your heart up to helping someone in need. We’re all in the same boat, or have been at one time.
From what I have read about Chi and his personality and this website in general, it is all about kindness and positive energy and it has all really changed me from being a struggling and impatient musician to learning to be content with the struggle and happy for what I have instead of upset over what I don’t have. Maybe instead of trying to escape negative situations, we should be trying more to turn our negative situations into positive situations.
