Been thinking of Chi so much these past few days (more than usual) which prompted me to finally “join” the site. I reconnected with my “first love” last week, with whom I saw my first Deftones show with. He actually did a new piece of ink for me and we talked for the 3 hours straight. When I got home I just could not get Chi out of my head!
When we saw that show years ago we ended up getting ditched by his friend (who was being a drunk you-know-what) and were stranded outside in the rain and cold. Chi came out and actually let us inside and made the whole thing into such a positive experience, not to mention saving me from hypothermia I’m sure. Lol.
After we finished my tattoo I went home and made myself a Deftones necklace out of a scrabble tile and as silly as it may sound, I’ve been wearing it every day, and when I think about Chi I grab it and give him a minute. I made one for my closest friend as well…
Anyways, a few years back I worked the Family Values tour for a few dates and had gotten my best friend/sister a pass for a show because she’s a die hard Deftones fan. A few days before the day she was supposed to come she ended up being rushed to the ER and put in the hospital with a collapsed lung. I went and stayed with her for the first 2 nights but after she was stable she made me promise to go work the shows. The next day I went and thought about her non-stop, calling her every chance I got. I asked Chi & the guys to sign a poster for her and they were so kind about it, writing her a get well message and everything. When I gave her the poster she cried so hard I was afraid she’d collapse her other lung! LOL. (FYI – she’s fine these days. No flying, diving or other random things but she’s living and that’s what counts)
I don’t know why I’m really rambling, but I guess it boils down to feeling this immense desire to express… Express gratitude, express love, express faith…. Express understanding, compassion, sympathy, empathy, passion, strength…
Chi is constantly in my thoughts & prayers.
And to think that I’m just one voice in the sea….

Dear Jess, I want you to know that when Chi and I weren’t playing cards, we were usually playing scrabble. I bought myself a scrabble dictionary to try to beat him and he lifted it and kept it. His memory is so good that he had most of the Q, X and Z words memorized. What a cool necklace for you to make! Thank you for your thoughts and good wishes. Great things are coming. You will love the site. We all do! OneLove! Jeanne (Chi’s mom
Dear Jeanne,
I really love your Chi scrabble dictionary lift story. Hahaha. Too cool! And thank YOU for having such a wonderful son, family and spirit. Much love to you all!
