Poem by Chi Cheng – (given to teri in 1988)
hey all.. here is a poem chi gave to a friend of his teri back in 1988. she emailed it to me today and i wanted to share… amazing!
Poem by Chi Cheng – (given to teri in 1988)
A warm summer breeze drifts across the fields green,
I look back on my life and all I’ve seen….
I’ve seen the world change, change before my eyes,
I’ve watched mankind laugh and I’ve watched it cry.
I’ve seen the word of God, burn in and out,
I’ve seen His wrath, from a rain to a drought.
I’ve seen death and destruction in man’s folly of wars,
I’ve seen famine and pestilence attack the poor.
I’ve seen humanity churning in a pool of red,
all the time wondering, what’s going on in their heads.
I’ve seen a world on the brink of annihilation,
waiting for the bombs in anticipation.
It’s an age of hypocrisy and deceit-
an age of pain and defeat..
And all the time I stood idly by,
watching the world slowly die.
If mankind could find a way,
we’d start the change today.
All it might take is just one soul,
with a golden heart and a noble goal.
Who will have love enough for all to share,
to teach our world to love and care.
A man in whom we can place all our trust,
who won’t be corrupted by greed or lust.
A man who will find it within his heart
to help us through to a brand new start.
An age of trust, love and care,
when all will love and all will share.
Until mankind can take this step
to take the responsibilities that must be kept….
For until then we, must live in fear,
to silently weep our silent tears.
For we live our lives, but never try….
A cold winter’s breeze
crosses the darkening sky.
one love for chi,
gina

The last part made me want to cry. But thank you for this, it’s lovely, it really is. Talented boy, that Chi.
Wow, that’s a really good poem! I already knew from “The Bamboo Parachute” that he’s really good with poetry, but I gots to save this as a TXT-file on my computer and read it whenever I feel like getting inspired.
One love for Chi!
Thanks for sharing, I always enjoy reading a good poem.

wow! Dai was in high school when he wrote this. I wonder as I watch him sleep if he may be “the man”. And I laugh inside about the times when he laughed at my poems because they rhymed, calling them “Dr Seuss Poems”. Well maybe he has a lot of work yet to do. I do believe that he does because God has kept him here against the odds for something. I trust in our God that his word is true and he has a plan for good and we will know the plan sometime in the future. Jehovah is faithful and I trust my son to his care. Thank you all for your continued prayers and love. One Love Always, Jeanne (Mom J)
that was the most beautiful, most perfectly worded piece of writing I have ever read. Chi has intelligence that I feel is beyond our comprehension, and this poem that he wrote clearly demonstrates the wisdom I am talking about. I think this poem helps me understand why he may be in the state he’s currently in.
Thank you Gina and Teri for choosing to share this with us.
