Updates… Plans… Progress… Jersey??
hey all, so much going on lately *head spin*
t-shirts… …so i apologize that i am running a bit behind on answering your emails and have a sheeshton of t-shirts to get shipped out.. and reshipped out to those of you who never got your first shipment. i assure you i will have these ALL caught up and out the door over the next couple days… and i appreciate your patience. contrary to popular belief i only have two hands and one computer
i have a couple of new t-shirt designs that i will be adding soon.. they are awesome! check them out…
docs… defina, fellus, thompson…
so as you know i found chi some new top notch docs not long ago from NJ.. dr. defina, dr. fellus and dr. thompson all from IBRF (International Brain Research Foundation). they have and 84% success rate in waking people from coma, vegetative and minimally conscious states. chi has been on their new protocol for a few weeks now and has already been showing some great progress.. more alert, trying to talk, trying to push himself up out of his chair and more.
true life… MTV… encouraging!
i don't know if you were able to catch "True Life | I Have a Traumatic Brain Injury" on MTV recently.. but our new docs were on that show. the show was more focused on living with TBI and not so much the initial recovery process… but one thing dr. defina told me on the phone the other day was that all three of these guys were like chi is now or worse when he got them. this is very encouraging because all three of them were able to walk and talk and were continuing to strive for improvement. so we are pushing forward with dr. defina's protocol and giving chi as much therapy as possible at home.
a new topic of discussion… jersey…
we have the opportunity to relocate chi to a top facility in jersey. this facility has been ranked as one of the top two rehabilitation hospitals in the country and as the best facility of its kind. dr. fellus is the "director of brain injury services" there. for chi to be under the doc's direct care would give chi a huge jump start in his recovery process and open up a wide range of kessler's rehabilitative therapies/services that the docs are not able to implement due to the long distance right now.
Studies show that patients treated at an acute rehabilitation hospital achieve better outcomes than those in other care settings. On average, our brain injury rehabilitation patients have greater improvement during their stay and a higher level of functional independence upon discharge, based on with national benchmarks that measure criteria such as locomotion, cognitive ability and activities of daily living.
TBI recovery doesn't come cheap!
as you know getting insurance to pay for anything has been.. well impossible! …and is why i launched this website in the first place. the facility is one of the best in the nation.. and it comes at a cost! we are potentially looking at up to $2000/day at kessler and chi could very well be there 3-6 months (not sure on length of stay yet) depending on his progress (which is impossible to predict). so it could very well cost anywhere from $200K – $400K and that doesn't include any of his other needs or the costs in transporting him to jersey. when i spoke to dr. fellus he said he would be out of town until the second week of july and he would like to wait until he is back to have chi at kessler so he won't be gone during chi's stay there. so we are shooting for mid-late july… which is fine because we need time to plan and coordinate.. and fundraise! … and we could use HELP! alot of you have been emailing me lately about events and fundraisers that you would like to do soon and it could not have come at a better time.
rock star = millionaire… (i know it's coming)… just to clarify because i know someone will email about it… chi cheng is not a millionaire! i had one guy email me recently asking "why are you fundraising.. i bought every deftones album and i know alot of others who bought them too and cheng is a millionaire for it!" if any of you have similar thoughts or concerns i ask you to do some research on how the music industry works and how the bands get paid. album sales are the lowest source of income for a band.. i mean what is left for them to split between them all… $1 or less or something?? anyway.. cheng is not a millionaire… so onward.. making it happen for chi!
our initial $100K goal… i want to say sorry if i gave anyone the impression that "oh wow all they need is $100K and chi is all set to go! awesome!" i have to admit.. when i first launched this website to help offset costs.. i had NO idea how expensive it was to recover from an injury of this nature. so ya – i was probably pretty darn naive myself in the beginning. now that i have been around it and a part of the cheng's lives.. i know.. it's is E X P E N S I V E! and even more so if insurance is giving you the run around and denying payment for just about everything you submit. so now.. we are setting new goals and making realistic plans. i am probably going to be setting the goal to like $500K for the year of 2010. that will hopefully cover moving expenses, paying docs for the year and kessler stay.
so one love family… over the next few days you will see a BIG PLAN unfold here on the one love for chi website and those of you who would like to play a role in making jersey happen for chi will be welcomed with open arms. i need all the help i can get!
one love for chi,
gina

Gina,
You are doing a FINE job of handling all of this! Don’t let anyone get you down. This was never your responsibility and you have taken it on for your own heart’s good and anyone who dares criticize your shortcomings as a single human should consider offering to help instead.
As for the hospital thing, that sounds wonderful! I wish he wouldn’t have to leave home to have the opportunity, but it’s all a learning experience, and being home now has been priceless for everyone, I am sure.
Regarding the shirts, if there is ANYTHING I can do for you from here, admin. of any kind or anything, I am HAPPY to do it. I can process orders or whatever.. you can send me a whole box and a list, and I will fill them all or anything.. contact me if you think of ANYTHING I can do to take some of the weight off your “job” and let you get more involved with the goals and efforts.
I would love to talk to you more, if you have time, as you know, I believe, from our other convos, I have fundraising experience, specifically in the music industry (local, but that can be most powerful) I have also made some new, persuasive friends in the Hollywood genre, and feel I might have new things to offer this.
So, in essence, much love to everyone, thank you SO much for helping us stay in the loop, and for being there for them. Congrats on ALL of your efforts, not to mention launching a world-wide movement to not only aid the Chengs, but to educate people on so many matters and provide hope for others in similar situations.
You are a wonderful person.
Rock ON.
BonnieBB
aww thanks bonnie.. your a sweetheart.
i can get caught up on the t-shirts in a couple days easy enough and then i should be fine.. i just got a bit behind.
the biggest thing i want to focus on is getting people to help me in fundraising. as it is right now i need to pay the NJ docs another $40K installment… so that is my initial short-term goal… then onward to the BIG goal.
maybe you could reach out to your contacts and see if anyone has any ideas of fundraising we could do there locally?
thanks bonnie!!
one love for chi,
gina
Gina,
my family would like to welcome u guys 2 detroit, any expense saved is earned. let me know if you need any help in the area, if u need a detroit liaason.
one love, stay strong!
scottie.
If you need help on the Canadian side let me know Gina. You’ve been awesome at keeping us all updated. Are the guys going to be selling the shirts at their shows?
thanks natasha,
i appreciate it and will let you know.
one love for chi,
gina
Ahhhh G – put those shirts up for sale, I want one of each. I actually have a crazy design I’m working on, but I’m computer illiterate when it comes to design, it’s in my head
Gina,
Are you guys speaking of Kessler Hospital in Hammonton, NJ (Atlantic County)? If so, I live 20 minutes up the road from that hospital. The Deftones are pretty much solely responsible for starting me on heavy music and being a musician. I will do my best to spread the word around these parts to try and raise awareness / funds for you.
Alot is going on!!!, just from reading about it i am overwhelm, but probably u and the Cheng family will be 100x more overwhelm. Is just that i imagine how this month and the next are going to be. I said this before, …i wish i was doing something more…i really do.
About rock star=$…mmm…i never thought that deftones could be millonaire, i mean…other “rock stars” are, because they sell other stuff and sponsor or get sponsor by products…they make commercial/main stream music wich…is purchasable. I think..probably Chi got money from deftones BUT he is not 24/7 and 365 days of the year earning money from shows or else. He got his own life and like everybody else BILLs to pay.
Now, he is in this condition, and everyone should know that its veeery expensive, if people would read more about it, they would know. I dont understand how they think that all this time( 1 year and 6 months!), Chi’s family has been paying for all this?.But im not angry…if they dont understand, ignore this comments and move on, WE have more important things to think about. I say we, coz Gina, u nor his family are not alone, the people that are here, that donated, and just fans in general think of Chi and his family.
About doing something to donate more money, ill have to figure out something but that means full support of oneloveforchi.com, so people dont think that wathever i or anyone else do, wouldnt be only to earn money.
Finally, its sounds like jersey….it’s the best option for Chi, but the family have to know that they or someone have to be with Chi everyday in Jersey, dont leave him alone in that place…their life routine will change…again.
What u said about dr. defina, dr. fellus and dr. thompson gives me more hope, Chi will be alright…i know that everything will be figure out, just wait.
Chi, his family and u are in my prays.
Stay strong!
Excellent, thorough update Gina (thanks!). I love the designs of the new t-shirts and am gonna have to buy some of ‘em. The facility in New Jersey sounds very promising. Lets make it happen
one love for Chi.
john
Gina, awesome update! I am sure a lot of people have been waiting to hear all of this! I cannot even imagine how hard it must be for you to oversee this sight as well as handle things behind the scenes making it happen for Chi. And on top of that, you guys have that little kick-ass food joint that I cannot wait to eat at someday! God bless you for all you do. Seriouslly! I really hope we are all able to help reach this goal money wise to get Chi out to Jersey. Dr Defina and his counterparts are the best thing to happen in terms of his recovery in my opinion. He needs to be there and I will help out as much as I can. Which brings me to these hats I am always talking about. Now that we have had the baby, my wife is going to be able to finish the initial hats we purchased and order more to be done. I will talk to Mom J about it more, but I cannot wait until we have them ready to be shipped out to you or who ever we need to. She did a few already and they turned out great! Anyways, wow, it feels like I haven’t posted a comment on here in forever…and I feel a little bad about that! Ok, anywho, Gina, keep doin what you’re doin’, you are making a huge difference in Chi’s life as well as others and I hope everyone see’s this and keeps spreading the word about our brother so we can bring him back!
NO QUIT CHI!!!
Matt
I really hope you guys can get him to Jersey. And whoever thinks “oh, well, people know who they are = MONEY” needs a wakeup call. Especially since the actual bands get fucked in the money end, but that’s a different story…
If I wasn’t so hard for money right now, I would donate. Best of luck, seriously. <3 I hope every day for the best.
Hi Gina,
If it’s the Saddle Brook or East Orange facilities, you’re talking about 5-15 minutes from me (depending on the facility). Let me know if there is ANYTHING I can do to help accommodate you and the family, and save some money for Chi…
I would also be more than happy to help processing orders, and might be able to organize some shows here and there in the NJ/NYC area with some good drawing bands.
I hear you on the millionaire assumption. The record business is brutal and unfair, and the insurance companies are even worse.
Again, if you need anything at all from us here in North Jersey….hit me up directly at standpipe at gmail dot com.
Cheers!
Courtenay
Gina, as everyone already said, you are doing the best job anyone could do. You also have a family to take care of. Don’t let some stupid people who don’t know what is going on get you down. Anything that I can do from WI let me know and consider it done. You are an angel. ONE LOVE!!!!
laura
Aloha Gina, thaks for the update. You got a lot going on but your stong! You guys can do it! Thats awsome news about Chi’s plan of attack for recovery. Been praying as much as I can! Let us know when the shirts are a go…I try to be the first to get both. Alll my mana and aloha, Bradda J
I know how yo feal when it comes to money..Not everyone has a lot of it.. Hopefully I can do something here in Michigan, like a funraiser of my own. Send me your adress and I try to get it started as soon as I can.
Cant wait to here if your ok with this.
Much luv,
Madison
thanks so much. all fundraising funds should be sent directly thru the paypal donate link on the website.
you can email me via the “contact” link on the website if you have questions.
one love for chi,
gina
Wow! Great responses from everyone. The support from all of you is so wonderful. I ask that everyone pray that we get Dai to New Jersey ASAP. PRAY HARD!! He has to be in a place where experts can work with him. I know he can get better and it has been far too long waiting. Time is not on his side, it has been a long time since the accident, this needs to happen and it needs to happen soon. I went to visit him in February and had intended to write a blog to share with everyone. However, at that time there was nothing encouraging to tell you about. It broke my heart. This man needs help! Gina has done an amazing job finding the help for him. Now we need to get him there. Any road blocks need to be obliterated. Please PRAY HARD………
Love to you all

Waiting for the Deftones to do what they do best!
You were there; brother!
rockin your one love for chi necklace! i love it!
one love for chi,
gina
I have been a fan of the Deftones since I was in highschool backin the 90′s. I finally got to see them live in Nashville in 2006. I was absolutely crushed when I heard the news that Chi was injured. I wish I had some ideas for you on fundraising but it is not my area of expertise. My experience with my wife whom is disabled has went through a 3 year process for disability insurance & medicare. Is that an option for Chi? Medicare by itself pays 80%. That is a thought. Prayin hard to see Chi back on his feet.
I am sorry to hear about Chi’s misfortune. I was completely unaware of what had happened. I miss Chi dearly and the times of hanging out back in the day when the Deftones were up and coming. I will find away to donate money that I make from my shows in the Sacramento and Amador County to help the cause. If there is anything I can do to help please email me.
i’m happy to hear such great news gina. if there is anything i can help with let me know. in the mean time i’ll just keep trying to let people know about it. I keep checking back on youtube on the video’s fieldy put up for the song and directing people back here. Make sure that whether the guys ask for it or not you send a *cough* ‘few’ *cough* boxes of tshirts with them on tour. also with all the promotion for the new album how about an interview with them wearing the shirts or…maybe wear them for a photo shoot? don’t let them worm their way out of helping you. you’ve done an awesome job!
gina, u will probably not be able to read this mail cause of u been so busy and all, but for who anyone who will, i understand u not haveing time to answer emails or been able to ship out so many iteams. i can just imagne u wanting to be at chi’s side all the time and haveing to go and have ur erans done must be heart breaking to leav his side, i now that u must wish that the clock would just stop long enught to have everything done or that the day would go longer. I just recently found out my daughter has 2 small tumors in her right arm and has to have them taken out, just for that i have had everything that dose not have to do with her stop. i have lost contacts with everyone i dont now sometimes wat day it is i just have so many places so many doctors to visit i can really say Gina, i understand u and all i have to say is keep ur chin up and ur posetive attetude going, i would just say ur very strong and i admire u for been there and not giving up. u r the kind of persons that keep me going and make me keep up my hopes that everything will be alright.

I am greatly encouraged to read of the progress Chi is making in his recovery and will be at the One Love for Chi concert to show my love and support for him and his steadfastness in his recovery.
He is in my prayers.
Great job Gina. I knew Chi back in the late 90's before his dreads and before maverick. One of the nicest warmest guys I have met still to this day. It brings a tear to my eye to think of him in the condion he is in! I purchased one of the shirt via ebay. I am bone stone broke but need to throw the positive energy to chi. Like he always did for me and sure has done for 10 of thousands worldwide! Bright days are ahead old friend be STRONG!!!
thanks jason. i will read your message to chi soon!
one love for chi,
gina
it's good to know that he is recovering. maybe he will back up on stage in a couple of years…
Hey just wanted to let you guys know if I can come back from a severe brain hemorrhage, a coma, and then to top it off coming back from being paralyzed on my right side for a few years anything is possible. I’m a traumatic brain injury survivor. This happened to me awhile ago I now lead a normal healthy life with only loss of memory and some balance issues but I’m alive and have an amazing husband. I’m praying for Chi and his family. With love anything is possible. With love and support of a Military wife keep up the good work!!!!
hi toni,
thanks so much for sharing. you are an inspiration! and you are so right.. with love and faith all things are possible… and chi is surrounded by both.
thank you for your love and support!
one love for chi,
gina
Gina I don’t mind talking about it what so ever.
I only remember short bursts of things. I was young when it happened I was only 6 so this is some time ago I’m 24 now. I was playing on a water slide which was about 12 ft I slipped from the top and fell. My feet caught the ladder rungs and I hit my head on the concrete below I was lucky to have not broken my back. I was able to get up and walk oddly and made it home before my memory fades to really nothingness. From what my family has said we got to the hospital and they did a MRI/Catscan and they found that I had a blood clot the size of a baseball which had pushed my brain to the right side. I had surgery of course they removed the blood clot and stapled me closed. By this time I was what they considered in a coma. By the grace of god I awoke 2 weeks after the accident paralyzed on my right side and unable to speak or recognize anyone but my grandmother. My coma was short but the damage was there. 2 months after the accident I was home with my family and in a lot of physical therapy. By the time I was 10 I had regained all my bodily functions with the balance issues I mentioned before but I had a normal childhood. I was a basketball player, cheerleader, drill team and even was a total band nerd. All things are possible.
My injury may not have been as bad as Chi’s I don’t know his specifics but If I managed to survive what they considered in the early 90′s a death sentence for a child then Chi can come out of this.
God bless and take care!
Peace and Love to Chi and all my faith in his recovery!! My words are small but my heart and feelings are not. Chi was always there in music for me when I needed him. Be well my friend.
Wasnt he insured before the accident? Im glad i live in sweden all this would be free to me if something like that happened.
I’ll admit I’ve only recently started listening to Deftones, but in the past 2 months I’ve been listening nonstop and there is such a positive and amazing energy to it that I can only explain as true happiness. You can feel how happy they are playing the music that they love. I’m a bass player myself so I look up to people like Chi and Fieldy, people that are amazing at what they do and have such an amazing passion. I’m putting out as many positive thoughts as I can at all times in hopes that some that positivity makes it to Chi to aid him in his recovery. Chi will wake up, we will see the original lineup of the Deftones one day, and Chi will inspire those without hope for friends and family in similar situations that they too will one day wake up.
Chi, you’re an incredible human being, you’re strong, and you will pull through, my thoughts and prayers go out to you, don’t ever lose faith in yourself, and as Sixx A.M. put it, “Life Is Beautiful”!
Yes, Swedish health care is wonderful…..NOT!! I’d hate to have anyone have a serious injury over there…..no specialists to help for something like this!!!!
“To see a physician, a patient must go to one of two local clinics before they can see a specialist. The clinics have security guards to keep patients from getting unruly as they wait hours to see a doctor. The guards also prevent new patients from entering the clinic when the waiting room is considered full. Uppsala, a city of 200,000 people, has only one mammography specialist. Sweden’s National Cancer Foundation reports that in a few years most Swedish women will have no access to mammography.”
http://www.nationalcenter.org/NPA555_Sweden_Health_Care.html
http://www.washingtontimes.com/news/2009/mar/21/a-look-at-swedens-way/
On the other hand, here in the USA, we have excellent care, but who can afford it!!???
On a more positive note, I’m glad to see Chi alive and making progress….it will take time but I know he’ll get through this!
I’ve donated 2 times, and I’ll donate again and buy a shirt here in a few days. I’m sad to see more people haven’t donated honestly. I know there are hundreds of thousands if not millions of Deftones fans out there….spread the word and donate at least a dollar!! Let’s get Chi the care he deserves.
DrDoug;
You're actually wrong, the Swedish healthcare system is very good. We do NOT have security guards, that is false.
Gina et al,
like everyone else, I just wanted to show my support for Chi and all those standing beside him through such an impossible time. I’ve been a Deftones fan since I was 13; over 12 years now, and it breaks my heart to know that the Deftones family has had to struggle through this for so long now.
Know and remember that the majority of us support you and think of you often. Over the years I’ve learned to believe in the possibilities presented by positive thought and prayer. Even those of us who can’t contribute financially, or can only do so minimally, can help by thinking positively and praying for Chi, Gina and the rest of the Deftones family. We are thinking of you guys!
Chi, may the gods gift you with success and a recovery that will allow us to see you on stage again! <3
Meg
Dear Gina,
I'm just getting acquainted with the Deftones, but I Googled the name because I saw a graffit sticker at my regular bus stop and was curious about its resemblance to my web site.
I blog about housekeeping and home economics. There is no commerce associated with the site. The basic organizing principle is economy of effort, and you may find some useful information there. As it happens, today's post is about housekeeping and disability.
I am a survivor of subtle brain injury. I was battered in 1969, suffering a concussion that was never diagnosed or treated, although I was hospitalized for two weeks. I lost my literacy and math skills and spent the next twenty years mute as the person I had been, watching life as if it were a silent video, but I retained the overlearned manual skills of formal handwriting. I developed the kind of coping persona that is characteristic of people who are not literate and functioned well but differently as a social being, freelancing calligraphy for many years.
In 1989, I suddenly woke up and remembered who I had been and what I'd been able to do. Since then, I've cobbled together an improvised rehab program and am happy and functional. As someone who writes about housekeeping because it is an unfashionable topic, I talked my way into two sessions of an academic conference about the reciprocal relationship between society and technology in Portland, Oregon, earlier this year. I was gratified and relieved to learn that apparently I have something valuable to contribute because of my experience spending twenty years out on my feet like a punch-drunk boxer.
I am sad that your family has its burdens, but am writing to say that the world looks very interesting from the other side of the looking glass. Music played a huge part in sustaining me and in my recovery, and I never forgot a tone of voice. It would be surprising if Chi did not bring wonders back from where he is at the moment, and perhaps that point might be worth mentioning in your appeals.
I'm marginally aware of brain science's interest in music, and it may be that research foundations would be sources of funding for your efforts. MIT, I believe, has a research initiative going about music and conceivably Seattle's Jackstraw Foundation might have some suggestions for you. Their director, Joan Rabinowitz, knows about my recovery and was very excited about the role music has played in my rehabilitation. The University of Washington sponsors an annual popular music seminar in conjunction with The Experience Music Project. I haven't quite attended but recall postings on the EMP site that might be viable leads for you.
EMP is Paul Allen's project. He was one of the founders of Microsoft, owns Ticketmaster I believe, and also is interested in brain science. I can't help you with the details, but there may be something there for you.
My brief audition of Deftones suggest that the work is punk, uh, duh, and I'd like to add that punk has been my exit from the isolation of an injured brain. What has turned the lights back on for me has been visiting childhood places, talking with childhood friends, and connecting with exactly where I was, what I was doing, and what I most cared about when the lights went out.
Battery was like running head-on into a wall at high speed. Beyond a certain level of ability, my field of vision was a black screen. After my memory came back, the black field shrank in diameter until it was little more than pinpoints in each pupil. It was punk music that restored my distance vision and punk lyrics that gave me the insights I needed to cope with mindlessly complacent people.
No doubt every key stroke counts for you at the moment, but don't hesitate to contact me if you think I can make life easier.
Yours sincerely,
Chris
hi gina,

Ola…
PS: If you have difficulty reflecting on Google!

Hello …
Apologize, but I am not very good with English and I will not risk writing anything what nobody should understand. Good from now I have not how to say how much I feel deeply for everything that happened, and the strength what you have been demonstrating Gina. I wait that everything happens from good one to you, who manage to reach the wanted marks. And what he manages to recover completely in order that we see the joy and his presence again in the stage. I am a Brazilian fan of the Deftones and I wait to be able to help also, for the distance
thank you gustavo. your love and support for chi is very appreciated.
one love for chi,

I was reading Brian Welch’s book, “Stronger”, when I happened upon the day that he describes Chi Cheng’s car accident. He went on to explain how his insurance was cancelled by his insurance company because he was “not making a fast enough recovery.”
I have no idea what kind of insurance Chi had; however, I know that an insurer cannot cancel your insurance for that reason. As a matter of fact, according to the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 2004 (HIPAA), it can’t be cancelled except for non-payment of premiums. That’s not to say that an insurer can’t charge rates that are astronomical, it’s just that the reason given in the book for cancellation of coverage doesn’t sound right to me.
I work in the Employee Benefits field for a large employer, and I have seen lots of people told lots of different (incorrect) things by insurers. If you haven’t already, I would suggest that you contact an attorney who specializes in insurance and benefits to see if you have a valid case against the insurer. Usually even astronomical rates would be better than no insurance at all in a case like this.
I will keep Chi in my prayers.

Hi Gina
I must admit that I was unaware of Chi’s accident until I read about it just moments ago. I wish all the best to Chi and his family and pray for full recovery. Loving the new t-shirt designs and will be making a purchase to support the cause.
Great work on the site too! (Appreciated from a developers POV!!!)
Peace and love from the UK
Paul
is this the most recent update on CHI?! from MAY? Since the website has changed again, I can never seem to find a direct link for updates on his progress… i only ever see promotion and merch, etc. links… unfortunately, it makes me visit the site less because it's not as user friendly as before…
Racheal
may? no all updates are always on the front page of the site… there is also this category that takes you straight to updates on chi.. http://oneloveforchi.com/index.php/category/updates-on-chis-recovery/
all news/updates on chi can easily be found on the front page when you visit the site.

hi gina,
I was just wondering if these t-shirts will be available when the guys come to play for us in Sydney. I have been awaiting their return since 2007 and although it will be an amazing show, we will all miss chi rocking it out. Having almost finished a nursing degree here I can only hope that chi is recieving precious care from the angels watching out for him. Best wishes for his recovery, from an aussie fan – one love for Chi -

thanks for the well wishes, love and support for chi.

Have you tried Brahmi (herb) for Chi? http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bacopa_monnieri
Dear Gina,
Thanks for all the updates about Chi! I know all of us fans deeply appreciate it. I just found this website tonight, but have been a loyal Deftones fan for 14 years now. Their music has inspired my life and especially my artwork. I did an art project in 8th grade (1997) as a self-portrait and my teacher required lyrics from a song to be somewhere in the drawing. Of course I chose Deftones lyrics (from MXC) and wrote them as words on the chalkboard behind me, repeating over and over. That project was always special to me because that song had inspired the entire drawing and it came out pretty well.
I just went to see the Deftones in the fall of '10 and had my first pit experience. It was amazing!!! Chino was practically right in my face singing his beautiful lyrics…….but it still wasn't the same without Chi……he was missed. I recently started my recovery from my drug addiction and have built a brand new appreciation for God as my Higher Power and I pray everyday. I will add Chi to my prayers every night and I will PRAY HARD! Also, anything I can do for support, I definitely will!!! Best of luck to you and your family; you're doing an amazing job! Thank you so much!
One love for Chi,
Melanie

one love for chi,

Hey Gina,
sorry, just thinking of ways to boost sales). I checked out your Shop section and there's just a few designs sold online. I'll keep watch on what new merchandise you're selling.
Just saw the Deftones concert in Manila yesterday. I was just thinking that maybe you guys can also sell like a Chi design at the front and Deftones design at the back or vice-versa? That might reel in a lot more sales as I'll be interested to buy a couple online.. and probably so does the other fans. (If you already have these going on.. then I'm an idiot!
What you're doing Gina is really an inspiration to all the fans and whoever reads this page. But hopefully, it does not just stay at that and a lot of people all over the world actually get to participate and donate and buy stuff to raise funds for Chi's cause. You're a good person, Gina. There should be a lot of people like you.
All the best! \../
thank you jeff.. so much. i appreciate your kind words.
one love for chi,
gina
Gina. I know how much this must be for you to handle. I think what you’re doing for Chi is amazing, and I wish you ALL the best. Will be making an online donation, and if there’s anything the fans can do to help out in the Jersey area, post it up here. It takes a lot of strength and creativity to get something like this going. I’m sure Chi is incredibly grateful, as are all of us. Thanks, and best wishes.

thank you kyle. one love for chi, gina
You can always come to Canada with Chi if things get too expensive, we'd love to help you both through the process of recovery and it wouldn't be hard on the pocketbook as our healthcare is subsidized by government. You could have dual citizenship (American/Canadian) and there are some really great programs here to help you get situated/started….Just a thought but if you'd like me to do more research for you on this please feel free to email me directly
Cheers
All the love in the world for you and what you do. Speedy recovery CHI! One Love from the kids in
