You Are My Hero…

Any of my friends would tell you that the Deftones are my all time favorite band… and what an honor it would be for me to give back just a little. I had the pleasure of hanging back stage with the Deftones several years ago in Phx, Arizona. I spoke for a while to Chi that evening and I told him he was the nicest guy in music I had the pleasure of meeting. I told him he was my hero and he told me right back that I was HIS hero. Man, I will never forget that day… What a fantastic heart man… Thanks so much for being by his side during this time… We all feel like we are standing right there with you.

I have been a Deftones fan and lifer since 1995 and I was given the greatest gift of being able to spend the day w/ Chino, Stef, and Frank on their stop in Orlando in 2003 for Metallica’s Summer Sanitarium Tour. Chino and Stef were the best to my friends and I, but I did not get a chance to se Chi as he was off somewhere. Everyone who loves this band knows its not Deftones without the 5 individuals. My prayers are my the band and Chi’s family. Keep fighting, big homie. You still have plenty of music in you with this tremendous band that means the world to a great many of us. Much love and respect.

I remember making fun of one of my friends for getting dreads just cause chi had them. Well, I was a hypocrite for doing so, because I had saved up just to get a fender precision bass JUST because that’s what chi cheng uses.
When I look up deftones bass tabs I have to learn them. And by that I mean usually if I’m playing a song and it’s too difficult for me I’ll give up on it; but haha, that’s not the case with any deftones song.
